The Rabbit and the Lion
Once upon a time, in a vast forest full of tall trees and sparkling streams, lived many peaceful animals.
But the animals lived together in fear. Their fear had only one name: a fierce lion. This lion was strong, cruel, and proud.
Every day he hunted the animals of the forest. He killed often, just to show his power. Deer, foxes, and wild boars trembled at his roar.
The animals gathered under a giant banyan tree. "If he keeps killing us, none will remain!" cried a hare. "We must think of a plan," said a wise white jackal.
They approached the lion's cave and said, "O King, we will send one animal to you willingly as your meal every day."
The lion agreed, "But remember, if my meal does not arrive on time, I will kill all of you." The forest remained terrified.
Days passed. Soon, it was the turn of a small, clever rabbit. As he made his way toward the lion's cave, he walked very slowly on purpose. Why?
He stopped near thick bushes, looking around carefully to find an opportunity to outsmart the fierce king.
He found an old well hidden among the trees. He peered into it. In the deep water, his reflection looked back at him. A clever plan formed!
It was very late. The hungry lion saw the rabbit and roared! "Why are you late?!" The rabbit bowed low. What lie should he tell?
"Another lion?" the king roared. The rabbit said, "Yes! He ate the other rabbits and said he rules this forest now! He lives in a strong stone fortress."
"Show me this enemy at once!" he snarled. The rabbit respectfully lowered his head and led the furious lion down the dirt path.
They arrived at the old well. "He lives in there," said the rabbit. In his fury, the lion rushed forward. Tap the water to help the lion see the "enemy"!
The lion rushed forward and looked into the well. In the still water he saw his own reflection. Because he was already furious, he thought it was truly another lion staring back at him.
He let out a deafening roar. From inside the well, the roar echoed back.
The lion thought, “He dares roar at me in reply!” Blinded by anger and pride, he decided to attack his rival.
Tap the furious lion to make him jump in!
But there was no other lion there. He fell into the deep water, struggled for a while, and then drowned.
The rabbit waited for a moment and then ran back to the forest. When the animals saw him returning alive, they were astonished.
“The lion is dead!” cried the rabbit. “We are free!” The whole forest filled with joy. The deer danced, the birds sang, the monkeys chattered happily, and even the timid creatures came out of hiding. All the animals praised the rabbit’s intelligence and courage.
You saved the forest! 🎉
Intelligence is more powerful than brute strength.
A clever mind can defeat even the strongest enemy.
