The Clever Rabbit and the Foolish Lion
Once upon a time, in a vast forest full of tall trees and sparkling streams, lived many peaceful animals. However, a fierce and cruel lion named Bhasuraka also lived there. He was the king of the jungle.
Every day he hunted the animals of the forest. He killed often, just to show his power. Deer, foxes, and wild boars trembled at his roar.
The animals realized that soon there would be no one left. So, they held a secret meeting deep inside the forest to find a solution. They decided they must make a deal with the lion.
They approached the lion's cave and said, "O King, we will send one animal to you willingly as your meal every day if you stop hunting us down." The lion agreed.
Days went by. On one particular day, it was the turn of a clever little rabbit to be the lion's meal. The rabbit hopped slowly, taking his time, not wanting to die.
He found an old well hidden among the trees. He peered into it. In the deep water, his reflection looked back at him. A clever plan formed!
When the rabbit finally reached the lion's cave, the lion was starving and furious! He roared, "Why are you so late, you little creature?!"
The clever rabbit bowed and said politely, "O King, another lion stopped me! He claimed he is the real king of this forest!"
The lion was enraged! "Another lion? Take me to him at once! I will destroy him!" he roared. The rabbit led the angry lion back to the deep stone well.
"He is hiding down there, Your Majesty," the rabbit whispered. The lion rushed forward and looked into the well. In the still water, he saw his own reflection. Because he was already furious, he thought it was truly another lion staring back at him.
He let out a deafening roar. From inside the well, the roar echoed back. Blinded by anger and pride, the lion jumped straight into the well to attack his rival.
But there was no other lion there. He fell into the deep water, struggled, and drowned. When the animals saw the rabbit returning alone, they were astonished and overjoyed.
Moral of the story: Intelligence is more powerful than brute strength. A clever mind can defeat even the strongest enemy.
